Personal Pronouns and Person Suffixes
Level A1Pronouns
The six personal pronouns (ben, sen, o, biz, siz, onlar) and the personal endings that go with them.
Turkish has six personal pronouns: three singular (ben, sen, o) and three plural (biz, siz, onlar). They show who is being talked about and stand in place of a person's name.
The personal endings added to nouns or adjectives with these pronouns are: «-(y)Im» for the 1st person singular, «-sIn» for the 2nd person singular, no ending at all (—) for the 3rd person singular, «-(y)Iz» for the 1st person plural, «-sInIz» for the 2nd person plural and «-lAr» for the 3rd person plural. The vowels of these endings change according to vowel harmony, and if the word ends in a vowel the buffer letter «(y)» is used.
